Visitors!

On Sunday, the Holliday family stopped by since they were on the west side of the mountains.  It was so good to see them even if it was only for a couple of hours AND meet Hunter.  Hunter was born in January and it gave us a friendly reminder of how big our little girl will be in a few short months.  Made mommy want to hold Adalynn a little longer and snuggle tighter!  Lauren was a busy body and made herself known.  Each day is a constant adjustment. She still doesn't quite understand that babies aren't invincible like herself :).

Introducing Adalynn Jane

On Thursday, May 17th mommy was induced.  It didn't take long for Adalynn Jane to make her way into the world at 12:39 p.m. weighing 8lbs 4oz and measuring 19" (officially they say it's 19" but we measured her again at 20").

Daddy with his girls....a curious Biscuit included.  We had Adalynn home before she was 24 hours old.
Big Sister Lauren getting to hold Adalynn before her first night at home.  She calls her "my baby" and always needs to know where Baby Adalynn is.  We don't mind the nicknames but Lauren will correct you if you say anything but Adalynn around her.
The official board.  Mommy wanted to make sure we had the information documented!
On arrival at home Memaw and Papa were waiting with Lauren.  Memaw and Papa were great help with Lauren and they even did some housework and cooking!  THANK YOU!
Adalynn enjoying some indirect sunlight in the window.  Unfortunately she ended up with a little jaundice.  Luckilly she didn't have to have treatment as her body started to fight the Bilirubin and pass it.
 Enjoying some daddy time.
More sunlight....we had to make trips to Oly for 6 out of her first 7 days for heal pricks to check her levels.  Thankfully we are done unless her symptoms change, but our girl's tough and we know that won't be the case!
Yesterday daddy and Lauren made "Daddy cupcakes".  It's a constant adjustment for Lauren as mommy can't give her the undivided attention she once had.  But she's getting used to it.
One week old and on her way to the Doctor.  She doesn't really like the binky and we only use it for extreme circumstances such as she's hungry but mom needs a little more production time OR we are trying to go somewhere and don't have time to nurse OR she has just been pricked by the phlebotomist and needs something to take her anger out on.  But 90% of the time she doesn't need or want it which is extremely different from her big sister.
One week old and bright eyed.  She normally is pretty awake in the evenings and goes down for the night around 11.  She'll be up for a snack between 3 and 4....then up around 7.  So far, mommy feels like she's getting more sleep than when she was 9 months pregnant!
A little grin from our 1 week old.
These are pics I took today.  Sleepy time pics.  Her color seems to be 100x better, but that's probably because we see her every day.

I said she looks like a doll and Lauren said "Ya, a sleeping doll."
I'll try to post some baby pics of Lauren at this age soon since I didn't start the blog until she was a month old.  We think they look so much alike.  It will be interesting to see how Adalynn develops and grows in comparison to her Big Sister.

Mom's Weekend

Last weekend we enjoyed the beautiful and hot weather.  The slip and slide was broke out as well as the pool, squirt guns and popsicles!  Here's Lauren enjoying the slip and slide with a little push from daddy.  She still doesn't understand the concept of speed!
This is the face that was made when she tried to do it on her own.....at least she tried!
Playing squirt guns with daddy while mommy watched from the shade of her pop-up-tent!
That's our Lauren....always looking for trouble!
Silly Popsicle face!  We had quite of few of those over the weekend.
Hope everyone else had an enjoyable Mother's Day weekend!

Great Spring Weekends!

We have had some really nice Spring weekends to enjoy over the past month.  The beginning on April we enjoyed playing with bubbles, riding our gator, hitting some golf balls, riding our trike.....you name it.  If it was a summer toy Lauren hadn't seen in months...it's been played with!
I find the following pic hysterical.  She's blowing so hard her eyes are almost crossed!  We found the bigger bubbles when we went through the garage last weekend so we don't have to work so hard!
Some of these pics are prehaircut and you can see how long it was prior to Hairmaggedon.
Once it reaches 70, it's definitely pool weather!  So daddy got the pool cleaned and filled with some hot water from the house and then hooked up the hose.  Lauren loved it, but I think Biscuit loved it more!
Lauren pretending to be a superhero.....but she couldn't decide on a super power!  All she could tell me was the she has a cape and can fly like Red on Super Why (a PBS show).
Yesterday we broke out the chalk.  This is an orange balloon for those of you who can't see abstract art OR 3-year-old art....whichever way you want to view it!
Posing next to her name mommy did....typical cheesey pose.
Hope everyone else is having nice weather and taking advantage of it.  The patio furniture is out, daddy thatched the front lawn and cleaned out the garage.  So we are ready for summer!  We've even ate dinner outside 2 nights!  And Lauren's favorite meal, BBQ chicken and corn on the cob have been on the menu.  Hopefully this isn't just a tease and the good weather sticks around!

Hairmageddon

A couple weeks ago, Lauren decided to get ahold of mommy's sewing scissors and cut her own hair. At first I was mad, then I realized she actually tapered the front on the sides.....so I'm thinking of sending her to beauty school. Just kidding, but even her hairdresser Kimber thought she did pretty good! Let's just say Kimber has definitely seen worse!  I tried to get a pic to share but she was to embarrassed after the scolding she took.
You can see the tapered sides prehaircut.
 Pretty proud of her haircut.
The bangs sides just look like grow out....kind of like when she was about 2.  So the haircut is pretty cute when it's actually done.  But on days were are just hanging out at the house, you can definitely tell.  Her hair wasn't the only victim of Hairmageddon.  She took the scissors to a puppet, stuffed duck, doll and my sewing tape.  And this all happened in less than 15 minutes tops!  The stuffed duck is Baby Adalynn's.  Lauren said, "I cut Baby Adalynn's duck's hair and now it's Bootiful!"  Um, no....no it's not.

Swim Lessons

In April, Lauren took a few swimming lessons.  She really enjoyed herself and it was a much better experience than gymnastics.  We had bought a deal through Living Social with Discover Aquatics in Oly.  It's normally fairly expensive but after trying it out....it's totally worth it.  Michelle, her instructor, was so patient and Lauren really enjoyed herself.  Once baby sister makes her appearance and we get into a routine, we will be back!
Lauren getting ready to jump!  Her class consisted of her and 2 other children at most each week.  She was the only one that didn't have to hold Michelle's hand and jump.  By the end of the month she was jumping in, touching the bottom of the pool and resurfacing on her own!  That's my water dog!
Splash!

Easter photos

Over Easter Nana Julie, Papa Eddie and Auntie Em came up to celebrate the holiday.  We lucked out and had decent weather.  I really wanted to find a smaller Egg Hunt in the area to take her too, but unless we wanted to fight the crowds they were all BIG.  So the Easter Bunny came while Lauren napped and hid some in the backyard.  That was a better deal for Lauren....no competition and she was the center of attention!
After each "find" she had to show everyone before placing the egg in her bucket.  Most were candy but there were a few Toy Story 3 Hot Wheels which were a hit!
Nana made Lauren's dress.  I had requested the style just because we weren't 100% sure on if the weather would cooperate.  And Aunt Emmy picked out the fabric.  It's a family affair!!  And it turned out sooooo cute!

It was so nice to not have to travel this year.  Thanks to the family for coming and visiting us this year!
