In late July the girls and I ventured down to the Myrtle Point for the 2013 Coos County Fair. Cousin Sydney was showing her steer and we couldn't miss that! First stop though was a visit with Smokey Bear. Lauren loved him....don't think that kid has met a mascot she doesn't!
Then it was off to see Sydney. Here she is with Husker.
Then we walked over to the "Ladies in Waiting" tent to check out the babies. Lauren fell in love with the pigs. In fact it made her cry when the 4-H kids did their piglet scramble during the rodeo!
The pig whisperer!
She also got to hold a baby chick. Thanks Aunt Emmy for capturing this since I'm not sure what I was doing!
We then caught up with Sydney and she showed us her prize winning, on-to-state-fair presentation board on Pneumonia in Beef Cattle.
The next day we were back at the fair watching Sydney show a little bull calf for some friends.
Sam and Lauren wanted to ride the train, so Auntie B took them. But they never left the station because Sam was told that he could show the same little bull calf in another class.
Sam being a little confident!
Then after lunch, Sydney showed the same bull calf for showmanship.
Lauren wanted to ride some rides, but there was only 1 that didn't go up and down or side to side! So she rode it a few times that weekend!
Heaven help us when she turns 16.
Friday night was rodeo night! The girls were in their matching overalls.
The "mom" self portrait.
Lauren with her favorite girl cousin!
Cousin Sam took part in the chicken race. Lauren thought she wanted too, decided against it. But she says she wants to do it next year. She's got a little too much "city" in her that we need to get out! Next year we'll be ready!
Saturday morning was parade time! Adalynn with of course Bald Baby.
Sam got to be on the MP Wrestling float!
And Lauren got to hang out with Noni and her Nana Susie to grab some candy!
It was a great trip. Luckily the girls didn't get sunburned but mommy wasn't so fortunate. It is so nice to be back in Oregon where the trip to Coos County is only a 3 hour trip and not an entire day!
